The third harvest

I have to say,
My science teacher is one of the most inpiring people I've ever met.
She really knows how to make the most boring topic or school subject into something fantastically fascinating...
And besides that, I allready had the intrest of cultivating (one half of my closest ancestors were farmers, so, yeah...)

Anyway, since early this spring I've been cultivating some of my own crops, or sprouts really. They are great on a sandwich, to a salad or why not make a smoothie of them?

This sort in particular is called Alfalfa and is really easy to cultivate yourself. They grow fast and doesnt need a lot of your time or gardeners skills, but still they contain more protein and fiber and eight times more vitamin C than ordernary salad. They also contain a substance called phytoestrogens, which is said to prevent breast and prostate cancer.

My seeds are bought in a health-store, but I guess you might find them at an ordenary farmacy, grocery store or maybe at some flower shops as well.
You soak the seeds over a night before “planting” them. If you havent tried or tasted this before you could start by soaking 2 msk (1 fluid ounce).
Why I wrote “planting” is because you don’t really put them in the soil, instead you just keep them in a can with a ventilating cloth over the opening.
Then, to keep your sprouts in top condition during the whole growing process, you should rinse them at least a couple of times a day. The sprouts also like to be kept in the dark.

Try it! You won’t regret it!
Easy, tasty and healthy!

Peace
